Comcast New Data Cap

Comcast Data Cap

Comcast in their infinite wisdom are imposing a Data Cap for most customers. The new Data Cap is 1.2TB. 1.2 Terabytes sounds like a lot but I argue that it is too low. The timing is impeccable that being we are in a Pandemic and most homes usage has increased due to Zoom meetings and children and adults operating from home.

The new plan starts in January 2021 but there will be a grace period during that time and extra fee’s will not start in earnest until April. There will be a $10 charge for every 50GB over 1.2TB/Month for most customer. Business and Gigabit Pro are excluded as exceptions.

Options for upgrading to unlimited will be available for $30/Month according to their website. You can check your monthly usage and their will be warnings issued when you are approaching your cap. You can check your monthly usage here Data Usage I checked my usage for the last months and we are approaching the limit with only three of us in the home full time.

States that are included in the data cap are: INCLUDES THE STATES OF CT, DE, MA, MD, ME, NH, NJ, PARTS OF NC, NY, PARTS OF OH, PA, VA, VT, WV AND THE DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA.
