Tired of your Internet Vendor? Wireless 5G is the answer. 5G is the next generation cellular mobile technology and will be markedly faster and have lower latency than 4G. Verizon just launched Wireless 5G home Internet in four US cities becoming the first vendor to do so. The first cities are Los Angeles, Indianapolis, Houston and Sacramento. Verizon is promising typical internet speed. of 300Mbps and peak 1Gbps. The monthly service price is in the in the $50 to $70 range . They are throwing in a free Chromecast Ultra or Apple TV 4K and three months of free YouTube TV.
My expectation is 5G should be successful as it does not carry the burden of the infrastructure costs of Fiber for example. This milestone is significant and is the beginning of the next viable option for Internet. Many communities have only one Internet service provider and therefore pay a premium for Internet. Many of my clients are looking to lower their monthly cost for Internet so hopefully this will bring relief by having multiple options for Internet.
